Sadly, official #Arab responses to today's terrorist onslaught in #Israel are mostly weak & evasive. From my reading, only #Morocco had specific "condemnation" of attack on civilians. None mentions #Hamas by name; none labels purposeful killing of innocents as "terrorism." 1/4

From many #Arab capitals, even #Israel's peace partners, there is a chorus of warnings about "escalating violence," as though they would forswear retaliation for brutal murder of their citizens or as if there is moral or political equivalence btw #Hamas & Israel. 2/4

While many urge restraint & diplomacy, they charge #Israel for creating an environment conducive to attack, which is close to victim-blaming. And then there's #Qatar, which competes w/ #Iran & #Hezbollah in actually placing responsibility for today's outrages on the victims. 3/4

No one expects #Arab leaders to cheer a tough #Israeli response to #Hamas but many - #Saudis, #Emiratis, #Jordanians, #Egyptians - will be targeted by the same evil forces that attacked today. USG should urge united Arab-Israel front against this barbaric terrorism. 4/4

Shameless... the moral equivalence btw #Hamas & #Israel expressed by many in the #MiddleEast is bad enough, but #Qatar - #America's major non-#NATO ally! - is far worse, placing total blame for the bloodthirsty murder of innocent civilians in #Israel on ... the State of Israel. https://t.co/8UpXbGsBoC
